A new study published in the journal Foot and Ankle Research found that when people wear shoes, they take much longer steps than when they are barefoot, and the heel hits the ground with greater force. A study completed by Daniel E. Lieberman, a professor of human evolutionary biology at Harvard University, compared the running styles of urban primary and secondary school students who are accustomed to wearing shoes and rural students who are always barefoot. It was found that when urban students run, when their feet touch the ground, most of the force points are on the heels, while rural students' foot force points are mainly on the front of the soles. The landing is lighter and does not produce obvious impact.

This study proves that barefoot running is better for the human body because the lower the impact, the fewer injuries. However, scientists believe that although humans are naturally suited to barefoot running, the method is extremely critical. Any slightest mistake will naturally increase the risk of stress fractures, muscle or tendon strains, etc.
