At present, there are six mainstream classifications of special sports skills commonly used in the field of domestic physical education and mass sports rating assessments, namely ball sports, track and field sports, water sports, ice and snow sports, fighting and confrontation sports, and dance sports.
This division is not made out of thin air. It is a general logic gradually formed over the years based on the popularization of teaching and the actual situation of competitions. The core is to classify according to the core skill requirements and applicable scenarios of the project. Ball sports are the category with the broadest mass base. They range from the big three of football and basketball to table tennis, badminton, tennis, and even pickleball and paddle tennis, which have become popular in recent years. They all fall into this category. The core training is ball control and cooperation. For this year's basketball league for primary and secondary school students in our district, more than 120 teams have signed up. During the competition week, the stadium is crowded with parents and students watching the game.
I would say that track and field is the "base buff" for all special sports. After practicing the basic skills of running, jumping and shooting, I can get started in other sports half a beat faster than others. I led a team member who practiced long jump two years ago, and was later selected by the provincial rugby team. When he first joined the team, he ranked among the top three in the physical fitness test. The coach praised him for his solid foundation.
Corresponding to the land base of track and field, water sports are specialized branches in water-related scenes. The most basic swimming is now a skill that many schools require students to master. Previously niche sports such as rowing and kayaking are now slowly entering the public eye. Last summer, the sports park in our district opened a new paddle board experience class. If you go late on the weekend, you can't get a spot. Many parents take their children to play, which is much more lively than going to an amusement park.
In the past, ice and snow sports were exclusive to the northern region. After the Beijing Winter Olympics, many cities in the south have built indoor ice rinks and snowfields. Skiing, figure skating, ice hockey, and curling are also attracting more and more audiences. I took my nephew to the indoor ski resort last week to experience it. After two hours of skating, he shouted that he wanted to sign up for the long-term class, saying that it was much more exciting than skateboarding.
Many people are biased against fighting sports and think that it is unsafe to fight. In fact, Sanda, judo, fencing, taekwondo, and wrestling all fall into this category. The core training is reaction and stress resistance. In the taekwondo gym owned by my friend, many children who were previously shy and introverted have been practicing for more than half a year. They have become more relaxed and generous, and they will not just cry when something happens.
Don’t think that dance is just square dancing. Aerobics, cheerleading, rhythmic gymnastics, and hip-hop and line dancing, which are particularly popular among young people nowadays, all fall into this category. The core training is body coordination and expression. Last year, our city’s primary and secondary school sports games listed hip-hop as an official event. The cheers at the scene were louder than the basketball finals.
Of course, this classification is not a unified standard answer for the entire industry. Now many sports practitioners have put forward different ideas for classification. For example, some people think that outdoor extreme sports such as outdoor mountain climbing, rock climbing, and extreme roller skating have an increasingly wider audience and should be listed in a separate category; others suggest that sports with technological attributes such as automobiles, motorcycles, and aviation models should be classified separately. categories; other classification systems will merge combat and track and field strength events into strength confrontation categories. However, the current special sports skills section in the compulsory education physical education and health curriculum standards still follows the six categories mentioned above. After all, it covers the vast majority of sports scenes that ordinary people can come into contact with on a daily basis, and it is also convenient for unified skill assessment and grade assessment.
